Kitchen floors are such a chore

Kitchen floor cleaning hacks

What’s the best thing to mop a kitchen floor with?

Do you hate mopping floors as much as I do? Lugging the bucket around, sloshing water everywhere (I’m sure other people are more coordinated than I am), feeling like the water you pour out afterwards is disgustingly filthy no matter how many times you go over a surface, waiting for it to dry, finding an hour to do it regularly. I hated it so much I just didn’t do it as often as I should.

So here’s my hot take on mopping floors. I threw away my mop and bucket. (Okay, I didn’t actually throw it away because we sometimes get water in our basement, but that is another story). Now, to clean my floors, I use baby wipes. Yep, the unscented, slightly soaped, nontoxic things you use on your infant. “Mopping” my floor now takes me 5 minutes. It is on my knees, but use a thick mat to kneel on and just slide with it so you never have to get up and down. Your floor is not sopping wet, so it dries quickly, and the baby wipe itself tells you whether your floor is clean. My floors are cleaner than they have ever been because I do them more often with less effort.

Bite-size tasks are the key

That’s my philosophy for all dreaded household cleaning, organizing, and decluttering tasks. Find a way that works for you. Break it down into small tasks that you can do more often but for less time. And then form a habit!
